Why Mrs. Wood Love's to teach math:

We live in a mathematical world. Whenever we decide on a purchase, choose insurance, or use a spreadsheet, we rely on mathematical principles. In such a world, those who understand and can do mathematics have advantages over those who do not. Mathematical competence opens doors to productive futures.  All students deserve an opportunity to understand the power and beauty of mathematics.  I chose education as a career because I know what my teachers did for me. I now choose to pass the knowledge and self-esteem that I gained to others. I am willing, ready, and able to prepare a child to be a lawyer, doctor, judge, or any other profession that he or she may choose through the learning of mathematics.
